Mexican puncher Julio "Pollito" Ceja (32-2, 28 KOs) acknowledged that a title fight with WBC world champion Rey Vargas would be complicated, but he made it clear that he has a high probability of beating.
Ceja believes Vargas (31-0, 22 KOs) is not very strong and possesses a fragile jaw.
Ceja is number one in the rankings under the World Boxing Council (WBC) in the super bantamweight division, hopes that the sanctioning body soon order them to fight each other.
When Ceja was working with veteran coach Ignacio "Nacho" Beristáin, he sparred on several occasions with Vargas - and based on those sparring sessions Ceja indicates that Vargas has a weak chin and he's not a very strong puncher.
"He is complicated because of his boxing ability, although I do not see him as someone who is strong. I do not see him as being strong, only complicated, we know he has good boxing ability, long arms, but I do not see any problem in fighting him. I'm ready and ready for whatever comes," Ceja said.
"[His chin] is the weak point that he has. I think he has not faced a strong puncher before, only good boxing opponents, but not a strong puncher. We are not placing our faith in that, but I think it's our gain."
After making his second title defense, Rey said he would like attractive fights and better pay, so Ceja was not among his first options, but Julio knows that sooner or later he will face him.
"We are only waiting for a date, we are already focused on that opponent and we will prepare 100%. When the fight came up, it did not interest him, but if the WBC orders it - we will be vigilant. We are going to fight, there is no going back.... whether it's right now, two or three months later or half a year later."
