PABLO CHACON, former WBO super featherweight champion, is fighting a new kind of battle. The former bronze medal winner at Atlanta, will have surgery on both eyes, for detached retinas. Chacon, who was waiting for a title shot against Rodrigo Barrios, must wait two months for to know if can persist in the boxing business, at least with gloves. “Health first, of course –says Chacon-, I must think in myself now. I am training some young boxers in Mendoza, in my gym. I don’t know if I will continue training boxers or just correcting them. But I don’t quit boxing, for sure”.
JORGE CASTRO, former middleweight WBA champion, is coming back, again. Last May 26th, 2005, he suffered a tremendous crash in his car. He was very close of Death, including 19 days in a coma. But, believe or not, he survived. And last weekend, he had an exhibition with Oscar Gomez, at Laferrere, Buenos Aires. “I’m planning to fight again. I am working hard for to fight at Luna Park Stadium on April 29. They made me all the medical tests and I am ready for to fight again…” At 38, Castro have emerged from Death and is alive, waiting for another chance.
CASTRO AND CHACON. They are different in a lot of ways. They are similar in the basic: they love boxing. Our best wishes champions!
