Mandatory featherweight challenger Robinson Castellanos (21-10, 13KOs) is mentally focused on facing the winner of the upcoming fight between WBC champion Jhonny Gonzalez and top contender Gary Russell Jr.
After suffering a crushing defeat to Rene Alvarado last February, Castellanos had two solid victories with an October destruction of previously unbeaten Ronny Rios in five rounds and then last month's one-sided twelve round unanimous decision over veteran Rocky Juarez in a WBC final eliminator.
"I want to beat the best featherweight in the world and that's Jhonny. A fight with him will be very complicated. We will work hard to correct any mistakes before we get to that fight. If we want to be champion, we must not make the slightest mistake - because Jhonny has quality, a very good punch and he can box," Castellanos said.
"We have to work more on our defensive mistakes, improve the defense to the fullest. I think I have an advantage with endurance. Jhonny have fragile jaw and I would work on these aspects to take the win."
