Benjamin Stanoff and Maycon Oller Da Silva both walked into the ring looking to earn their first professional victory in their four-round middleweight fight.
For the American fighter Stanoff, it was his pro debut. For the 41-year old Brazilian Da Silva, it was his second career fight.
It was Stanoff who enjoyed the honor of grabbing his first pro win, as he was awarded a unanimous decision with scores 40-36 from all three judges.
Stanoff started the fight off rather slowly but found his footing in the fourth when he clocked Da Silva with a straight hand, his best punch of the fight.
Da Silva was doing most of the chasing throughout the fight but Stanoff staved off his opponent by picking and choosing efficient counters off his back foot.
The fight took place Saturday night at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The non-televised fight took place on the Showtime card headlined by WBO bantamweight champion John Riel Casimero and challenger Guillermo Rigondeaux.
