Former WBO welterweight champion Carlos Quintana (26-2, 20KOs) appears to have made up his mind and is moving up in weight to the junior middleweight division. He is close to signing for a fight against Eromosele Albert (21-2-1, 10KOs) of Nigeria on January 16, with ESPN televising on their Friday Night Fights series.

At one point, Albert was a rising contender with wins over David Banks, Daniel Edouard and Yory Boy Campas. His status crashed after he was knocked out in one round back in May by rising star James Kirkland.

Quintana's trainer, Jose Bonilla, says the fight will be a test to make a final decision on whether Carlos will stay at 154 or move back down to 147.

"We are evaluating the possibility that Quintana remains at 154 pounds, depending on how he does. If everything turns out well in the fight against Albert, then we would be placed in a good position to get a title shot," Bonilla told Primera Hora.
