Former WBO welterweight champ Carlos Quintana (25-2, 19KOs) is still in dark as to the opponent for his return on October 25 in Puerto Rico. Quintana will be fighting at 152-pounds, testing the waters for a potential move to the junior middleweight divisions. He would like a third fight with Paul Williams or a possible fight with Antonio Margarito. He might also try to get WBC champ Andre Berto, who shares the same promoter as Quintana [Lou DiBella].
If he can't land any of them, he would probably head to junior middleweight and look for the winner of the upcoming 154-pound contest between WBO champion Sergei Dzinziruk and Joel Julio (34-1, 31KOs), scheduled for Oct. 18 in Germany. Quintana handed Julio his only loss back in 2006.
"I am focused in the welterweight division, but if a big fight doesn't come quick, then we will look for one at 154-pounds," Quintana told El Nuevo Dia. "If Julio is crowned champion, we will look to get that fight."
