In his first bout since being stopped by Paul Williams in one-round back in June, former WBO welterweight champion Carlos Quintana (26-2, 20KOs) returned at Coliseo Manuel ‘Petaca’ Iguina in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, stopping journeyman Joshua Onyango (14-16, 11KOs) of Kenya in four-rounds. The fight took place at the agreed upon weight of 152.
Quintana appeared tense at the start, but let his hands go as the rounds went on. He battered Onyango against the ropes in fourth, as referee José Hiram Rivera stepped in to stop the action. Afterwards, Quintana called for the best at welterweight and junior middleweight.
"I'm ready to face the best at welterweight and super welterweight, Margarito, Cotto, Paul Williams - I am ready," Quintana said.
