With no fights at 154-pounds, Carlos Quintana is ready to move down to the weight class where he became a world champion. One April 10, Quintana will challenge undefeated Andre Berto for the WBC welterweight title. Quintana was trying to land a title shot at junior middleweight but the opportunities were not there.

"I've always said that if a good offer came around, for a title, I was willing to go down [in weight]. It's a good fight. At 154 pounds I didn't have anything. The champions did not want to fight me. Not even the top contender," Quintana said to El Nuevo Dia. "This is for a good fight for a title. I want to prove that I'm style the same fight. I am happy and very motivated. It's for a title and I'm facing a great fighter."

Quintana is going to review a tape of Berto's fight from last year with Luis Collazo. Berto won a very close unanimous decision and had a lot of trouble in the contest.

"Berto is an explosive fighter, of stuck. He had problems with Collazo, who is a great fighter. And Berto showed his ability in that fight by winning the 11th and 12th rounds, which were key," Quintana said.

Quintana's trainer Jose Bonilla is going over a few strategies for his fighter. Their biggest obstacle is to make the weight.

"I have alot respect for Luis Collazo. He is an underrated boxer," Bonilla said. "We know the fight with Berto is not easy. He very fast hands, explosive and very tough, but he has trouble with lefties. "El Indio" adapts to any style."

"The only thing that will be a little difficult is making the weight. But we're working on it and we will be in the best possible condition for the fight. We have time. We were looking for a title fight, and if you get a fight on this level, and money, you have to make sacrifices."
