It's being reported that former welterweight champion Carlos Quintana injured his ankle and his ring return has been pushed back. He was scheduled to fight Eromosele Albert in Key West, Florida on January 16. After he was knocked out by Paul Williams in the first round of their rematch, he was considering retirement. Now he's hungry to become a two-time champion.

"It's been difficult. So much work to arrive at a certain level and each time something is placed in my path. It creates a lot of frustration. Six months agao I thought about retirement, but not now," Quintana told Primera Hora. "I am more motivated than ever.

There were recent reports that Michael Jennings also suffered an ankle injury. Jennings is still planning to go forward with his fight with Miguel Cotto on February 21. Quintana is willing to step in for Jennings if the UK fighter is unable to make the date.

"I have the desire to fight against anyone. I don't have the smallest doubt that I will be ready to fight again by the middle of February. If for some reason Michael Jennings cannot fight with Miguel Cotto, I am available. I know that I have the talent to fight with Andre Berto, Joshua Clottey or Antonio Margarito," Quintana said.
