In his first fight in nearly a year, former champion Carlos Quintana will return on October 24 at the Roberto Clemente Stadium in Carolina, Puerto Rico to face Jesse Feliciano. Quintana said the long layoff was not exactly a bad thing for his career. He needed some time off to heal some injuries. He was being considered for a possible clash with Joshua Clottey on December 5 and was later turned down for the fight. Quintana is still the only fighter to ever beat Paul Williams.

"The break has been good to recharge the batteries. What they [Top Rank] offered us was a petty sum [of money] for a fight with Clottey and when we gave them a counter-offer - they wanted to find someone easier," Quintana said to Primera Hora.

Quintana doesn't expect an easy fight with Feliciano. He says the fight will be tough. If there is good money on the table, he would be willing to travel to Mexico to fight Antonio Margarito [license revoked in the U.S.] or challenge WBC junior middleweight champion Sergio Martinez.

"Feliciano is a punching bag who takes everything. He has cement jaw and always goes forward. So we must diversify our attack and fight smart," said Quintana. "In boxing anything can happen and if there is good money (to fight with Cintron), it can happen. But what I really want is to fight Margarito and I'm willing to go to Mexico to challenge him. Martinez would be another option. "
