Heavyweight Carlos Negron (13-1, 9KOs), who recently lost his unbeaten record when he was knocked out by Colombian Epifanio Mendoza, will undergo major training changes before a possible ring return in December, says manager Orlando Piñero. Negron, who began his career at cruiserweight, has the size to compete at heavyweight, but his chin and ring tactics are now questionable.

"We'll talk to Carlos, his brother who trains him, and his father Jose Negron. He plans to continue his career. We'll bring him to train at a gym in Caguas, where Victor Aponte will take over his fitness and Alex Caraballo will help groom the technical and tactical aspects of his style. He has great skill but he also lacks a lot of things. In that fight [where he lost] he showed us that he still acts like a child, where he was clowning around and boxing - and boxing is not for clowns," Pinero said.
