Heavyweight Carlos Negron (14-1, 10 KO's), who has not fought since February 8, 2012, has parted ways with his manager Orlando Pineiro and his contract with promoters Puerto Rico Best Boxing Promotions expired on February 24, according to the boxer's father Joseph A. Negrón.
"The contract with Pineiro ended. We have the late February release. Piñeiro and his lawyer were very good with us. We are a free agent. With PR Best, the contract ended on the 24th of February. We have no commitments. Carlos is a free agent and is ready to fight," Joseph Negron said.
Negron had a good run at cruiserweight, but then the 6'6 fighter moved up to heavyweight and he was knocked out in the third round by Epifanio Mendoza. He returned last March to stop Francisco Mireles in one round.
