Former junior middleweight world champion Carlos Molina is on track in training camp for the next chapter of his career, for the upcoming fight with Reyes Sanchez next Saturday night, April 2nd, in Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico.
Molina has dropped back down to the welterweight limit of 147-pounds and wants to get a big fight at that weight or back at junior middleweight.
Two of the boxers he would like to fight are Antonio Margarito and Juan Manuel Marquez.
Molina fought in a welterweight bout in January and stopped Jose Feria in six rounds in Mexico.
There are legal issues which are preventing Molina from fighting in the United States. He says those issues are nearly resolved by his legal team and that should open up some bigger opportunities for him.
Two of the names that Molina wants to fight are former champions Antonio Margarito and Juan Manuel Marquez.
"I have spoken with my team, it seems to be very close that I'll be back to America and they also tell me that it is possible that I can fight with Danny Garcia for the title of the World Boxing Council - but until that happens I want continue fighting here Mexico. I want a big fight and I'd like to fight with Marquez or Margarito," said Molina (24-6-2 and 8 KOs) to ESPN Deportes.
"I am available at 147 pounds or less for Juan Manuel Marquez. It's a weight that I can make well and he is at that weight looking for an opponent, but on the other hand if I get an opportunity such as Margarito - then I would rise up to 154 pounds because that's the weight that he is fighting at.
"The truth is my body has responded well [at the welterweight limit].I do not usually struggled to fight at this weight and think I can do good things here."
