Former IBF junior middleweight world champion Carlos Molina (28-6-2, 8 KOs) of Mexico has arrived in Santo Domingo, for this Saturday's showdown with undefeated Carlos Adames (11-0, 10 KOs) in the main event of a card being staged at Hotel Jaragua for the WBA Fedelatin welterweight title.

Other than his pro debut, which was a four round decision win in Brooklyn, New York - Adames has knocked out his last ten opponents in four rounds or less - including a two round destruction of the very experienced Jean Prada (31-2) in February of this year.

The Mexican boxer stepped on Dominican soil in the company of his wife, son and coach - and immediately predicted a decisive victory against Adames, whom he defined as an inexperienced boxer

Molina wants to use a win over the rising prospect Adames to secure a crack at a welterweight world title.

Molina holds a significant edge in experience with draws against Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr and Erislandy Lara.

He admits that he knows very little about Adames.

"The truth is that I know very little of Adames, but he deserves my respect, because if he is unbeaten it is because of has quality, although he has no experience," said Molina.

Molina is currently ranked among the best in the world and has victories against former world champions like Cory Spinks, Kermit Cintron and Ishe Smith.

The fight against Adames, who is ranked number 6 under the WBA, will be set for 11 rounds because of the Fedelatin title rules under the World Boxing Association.

Molina said he decided to drop to 147 pounds because he has no difficulty in making the weight and feels confident that he could be a champion in the welterweight division.

Molina has won six fights in a row. He dropped down to welterweight last January and for two of his recent fights he was actually able to squeeze down to the junior welterweight limit.
