Venezuela’s Carlos Canizales will defend his WBC light-flyweight title against former WBA minimumweight champion Knockout CP Freshmart in Bangkok, Thailand on December 4, it was announced today.

Canizales, 28-3-1 (20 KOs), won the WBC belt with a fifth-round knockout of Panya Pradabsri in August and now, at the age of 32, is set to return to Thailand – where he and Pradabsri first fought in 2024 – to make his inaugural defence.

CP Freshmart, 27-1 (10), whose real name is Thammanoon Niyomtrong, is more familiar with being a champion than a challenger. He made 12 straight defences of the WBA minimumweight title before coming unstuck against Oscar Collazo last November. He will now be looking to once again claim a world title – this time at a heavier weight – by beating Canizales on home soil on December 4.
