In a night of returns at the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, California, former undisputed welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir (44-11-6, 13KOs) returned for the first time since a decision loss to Vernon Forrest, winning a close majority decision over Luciano Perez (15-7-1, 13KOs).
The scores were 97-93, 96-94 and 95-95.
Trainer Freddie Roach predicted a win, and he got it. Bobby Pacquiao (28-13-3, 13KOs) stopped Fernando Trejo (29-12-4, 17KOs) in the fourth round after the tough Mexican seemed to suffer an injury to his shoulder/arm and was unable to continue after being dropped by a combination.
Trejo was winning at the time of the stoppage and buzzed the younger Pacquiao on several occasions during the short contest. Pacquiao was coming off back-to-back losses.
