Nottingham's Carl Froch, 33-2 (24), netted a remarkable quadrilogy tonight after being named the BBBoC's Boxer of The Year for a fourth time. Froch, 37, earned the award for repealing the challenge of London's George "The Saint Groves" twice during the past British boxing season.
Froch stopped Groves in nine rounds in Manchester in November—referee Howard Foster was deemed the villain that night due to accusations of an early stoppage—then repeated the trick, cleanly this time, before a huge crowd at London's Wembley Stadium (W KO 8) in May to cement his dominance over his younger rival.
Froch's latest accolade is just desserts for a career that has seen Froch take on Jean Pascal (W12), Jermain Taylor (W TKO 12), Andre Dirrell (W SD 12), Mikkel Kessler (L 12), Arthur Abraham (W 12), Glen Johnson (W MD 12), Andre Ward (L 12), Lucian Bute (W TKO 5), Yusaf Mack (W KO 3), Mikkel Kessler (W 12) followed by the brace of wins over Groves—"The Cobra" has more than earned his spurs and is a worthy winner of the BBBoC's most prestigious award.
