WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch is not worried about his upcoming title defense against Andre Dirrell on October 17 at the Trent FM arena in Nottingham. Froch tells A. Gomez of LiveFight that he studied tapes of Dirrell and doesn't see a problem dealing with his hand speed or switch-hitting ability.
"Don't get me wrong I have watched a bit of Dirrell who sometimes switches here and there and to be honest i've sussed what he is and what he's not. Dirrell has natural ability but we all know this fight will be so much more than that. So I'm not overly concerned with any of his attributes. Pascal and Taylor had hand speed too," Froch said.
"But if he wants to be world champion then he'd better come prepared to fight like one. He's stunk the place out a few times running away rather that fighting like a man, there is no honour in that."
He doesn't think Dirrell's pre-fight training will help him. Dirrell has studied tapes of Froch and thinks speed is the key to taking him out. Froch is happy Dirrell is watching the tapes. Froch plans to enter the ring as a different fighter because he doesn't have any pre-existing injuries.
