WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch has attacked the claims of IBF champion Lucian Bute, who considers himslef the number one boxer at 168-pounds. Bute is being lined up to face the man who beat Froch, Mikkel Kessler, in the summer. Froch defends his title against Glen Johnson on May 21 or June 4 in the semi-finals of the Super Six tournament. Last Saturday in Canada, Bute battered Brian Magee for a knockout win.
"He’s [Bute] not fought anyone. I knocked out Magee five years ago and I had a broken hand from round two of that fight! He’s ranked number one in the division but who’s he fought? The referee had to pick him up off the floor against [Librado] Andrade. All that fighting with his hands low and chopping uppercuts; he’s probably moulded himself on me. I’m his hero," Froch told boxingfutures.com
