IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs) is likely going to retire if he doesn't land his most sought after wish - a major fight in Las Vegas. His promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, is talking to adviser Al Haymon to secure a March fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. But the Mexican star has an ongoing legal dispute with Top Rank and that factor is preventing a deal from being made.
Froch is open to facing someone else in Vegas if Chavez falls through. He is not that interested in his mandatory IBF challenger, James DeGale.
"I want the fight in Vegas," Froch told Gareth Davies of The Telegraph. "It's not that it has to be against Chavez, it could be against someone who takes me to Vegas – but I want one night fight in the fight capital of the world. My heroes all fought there and it's the box I've never ticked.
"The Vegas dream is there, but if it doesn't happen, I'll probably retire. Right now, it's 60/40 that I will retire. Fighters do it all the time. They fight on too long. What's going to get me out of bed in the morning? What's going to motivate me? What's going to make me say, right, let's do this one more time? Financially I'm secure. By May I'll have been out a year – and the longer it goes, the less likely I'll ever fight again."
