Nottingham star Carl Froch gave his take on a potential featherweight cracker on the UK scene, between Commonwealth king Josh Warrington and IBF champion Lee Selby.
Warrington is calling for a showdown with Selby. Both Warrington (25-0, 4KOs) and Selby are promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport.
Selby is looking ahead to the champions of his division, like Jesus Cuellar, Vasyl Lomachenko, Gary Russell Jr., and Leo Santa Cruz.
Warrington wants him to instead consider a fight between the two of them. Froch says that's a move that Warrington should avoid until he has a couple of fights at world level.
"You are going to pick Lee Selby to win that, I certainly would. Lee Selby has got too much for him and he's not ready for that yet, but he definitely gives him a fight, certainly it will be very interesting. But he needs two, maybe three more at a level," Froch told Sky Sports.
Froch has advised Warrington to watch his steps and take it slow, because the division is loaded with dangerous fights.
"But you've seen the top 10 for yourself: anybody in the top six or seven gives Warrington a really difficult fight. Lee Selby is a class fighter and so is [Vasyl] Lomachenko, it's a tough, tough division. You have to be careful and he's in no rush to jump straight in there but he cannot stick around at domestic level, he's too good.
