WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch says the retired Joe Calzaghe is itching to make a boxing comeback, but he's too old and too out of shape to do it. Froch had been chasing Calzaghe for several years. His dream of getting his British rival in the ring was crushed when Joe announced his retirement in 2009.

Froch thinks Calzaghe is looking for attention because he is no longer a part of the sport. During the last few months, Calzaghe has actually come out of his shell and taken some verbal shots at Froch in a few interviews. When Calzaghe was a pro, he usually ignored Froch's trash talk.

"He's out the circle and looking in, thinking, 'I'm not part of this any more.' Calzaghe is desperate for good publicity and that's why he wants some new profile on the back of me. It's cringeworthy. Even if he wanted to come out of retirement he's too old and fat now," Froch told The Guardian .

Froch defends his title against Mikkel Kessler this Saturday in Denmark, as part of the second stage of fights in Showtime's Super Six super middleweight tournament.
