Undefeated Carl Froch will either make or break his name on Saturday when he meets Jean Pascal for the vacant WBC super middleweight title in Nottingham. Froch gives Pascal, an unbeaten Canadian banger, a lot of credit for coming over to Nottingham for the fight. He says that Joe Calzaghe, Jermain Taylor and Denis Inkin all ran when he called them out for fights. Taylor is the mandatory to the crown. If Froch wins, it's a strong chance that he meets Taylor in 2009.
“I have had to be very patient because I’m 31 and the world title chance has only now come along. My promoter Mick Hennessy has done wonders in getting Pascal in the ring because nobody else wanted to fight me. I’ve cleaned up domestically but, whenever we have offered a fight to Joe Calzaghe, Jermain Taylor or Denis Inkin, they have always done a runner. At least Pascal has the heart to take me on and for that I give him a lot of credit," Froch told The Daily Express .
Froch predicts the fight will end with a knockout. He claims to be better than Pascal in every possible category and doesn't see any way that he can lose before his hometown fans.
“I am faster than him, I hit harder than him, I am tougher than him and he is coming to my hometown on Saturday to get knocked out,” said Froch. “It is a defining fight for both of us. If I’m as good as I believe I am, now is the time to prove it. I’m not underestimating Pascal because I have watched his fights and he can box, no doubt about it. I’m better than him and I have been waiting all my life for this one. This is my big chance and I am not going to blow it."
