WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch promises to bring the fight to Mikkel Kessler in the very first round when the clash in the second stage of the Super Six Boxing Classic on April 24 in Denmark. Kessler is coming off a very bad loss. He was dominated by Andre Ward last November. Now his back is against the wall as he faces Froch's power.
Froch is not sure whether Kessler is a wounded animal from the loss, or a hungry lion looking to reclaim what he's lost. He won't give Kessler the chance to get any courage. Froch plans to make it a war very early to break the Danish fighter's will.
"You could look at it two ways. You can say that he's got a chink in his armor and he's mentally dejected coming off the back of a loss, that he's not good to be coming off the back of a loss. When I beat Kessler a lot of critics will say that he was past his best and coming off the back of a loss. Well, you can look at it the other way and say that he's wounded fox, he's bleeding and he's fighting for his life. He's backed into a corner and he's going to come out swinging," Froch said to British journalist Steve Bunce.
" It's my job to not give him any confidence. I need to outjab him, outwork him and as soon as the opportunity comes, I've got to hit him hard with my power, and let him sit in his corner after round one and after round two and think to himself - 'I've lost against Calzaghe, I've lost against Ward, I've got second thoughts about where my boxing career is going and now I'm in against Carl Froch and I'm getting hurt here.' I've got to break his heart, basically. I've got to put him in his place early."
