Carl Froch (23-0, 19KOs) is planning to go to war when he takes on Jean Pascal (21-0, 14KOs) for the vacant WBC super middleweight title on December 6 at the Trent FM Arena. He sees the toughest fight of his career coming up, one that will make him or break him as one the elite.
"He's tough, young, ambitious and, like me, unbeaten," said Froch to The Evening Post. "I already know he's got a good right hand. So I'll have a look at him for two or there rounds to see what else he's got."
Some of Froch's critics have questioned his desire to slug it out with opponents. That's exactly what he plans to do against Pascal for the first half of the fight. He wants to get Pacal's respect early.
"Pascal was a top amateur who fought in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, so travelling won be a problem. I've got to match him punch for punch for the first four or five rounds. I will have to put myself in the firing range but I've already shown that I can take a punch. As the fight goes on I will be prepared to fight in the trenches. That's where I like to be."
