IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs) is still holding out hope that he doesn't have to face his mandatory challenger James DeGale in London. Froch would much rather travel to Las Vegas for a showdown with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. or another opponent of worth.
Froch, 37-years-old, admits that a fight with DeGale is not motivating him to get back in the ring. Whether it's Las Vegas or the UK, Froch needs his next defense to be a massive event. His last fight, in May, drew 80,000 fans to Wembley Stadium for the rematch with George Groves.
"I'm trying to hang in for Las Vegas," Froch told the BBC. "It's the fight capital of the world and many of my heroes have boxed there. I have not ever been there to fight, but it would tick a massive box in my wonderful career. And if it's not then Nottingham Forest's City Ground would be the next best thing because Nottingham is my home and I am a proud Nottingham man."
"I have one - maximum two - fights left in me, but it's got to be right and motivate me," Froch said. "I need to be fully charged and motivated to get the best out of me - which is what I showed in the last fight against George Groves at Wembley."
