WBA/IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs), 37-years-old, feels ready to walk away, with no regrets, if a Las Vegas fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. never comes to fruition. Froch's last fight, in May, saw 80,000 fans pack Wembley Stadium in London to watch his rematch with George Groves, which Froch won with a dramatic one-punch knockout.
Froch's promoter, Eddie Hearn, has reached out to Chavez's new managerial team, led by Al Haymon, but the Mexican star has an ongoing legal battle with his promoter, Top Rank.
"If that right hand that connected with George Groves's chin on May 31, 2014, just happens to be the last right hand I ever throw as a professional fighter, I am a happy man," Froch told the BBC. "Am I ready to retire? Yes - damn right I'm ready to retire. I've reached the pinnacle, I've done what I said I was going to do. I got redemption and I did the people who love me and follow me very proud."
