Belfast, Ireland - Super bantamweight prospect Carl Frampton (11-0, 7 KOs) stopped late replacement Mark Quon (11-4-1, 2 KOs) at 1:11 to capture the vacant Commonwealth title. Frampton was in full control and dominated the action. Quon possibly suffered a broken nose in the third. In the fourth, Frampton was punishing Quon and dropped him with a very hard counter right hand in the fourth. Quon beat the count on unsteady legs and was getting more punishment from several right hands before the referee jumped in to stop the action. Quon's corner was getting ready to throw in the towel at the time of the stoppage.
Quon was a late replacement for Kiko Martinez, who recently withdrew from the contest due to a personal matter.
