On a cold December night in Denver, Colorado New Generation Promotions presented a 9 bout card at The Crowne Plaza DIA Hotel. Izaak Cardona returns to the win column as he stops Zack Kelley in the first round. Donovan Estrella impressively stops Antione Knight. Chris Galvadon continues to knockout opponents, leaving them in helpless fashion. Donald Cobb with the most impressive knockout of the night. And the female bout between Riordan and Garcia steals the show.
Hard punching super middleweight, Izaak Cardona, punishes Zack Kelley with a body shot to end things at 1:57 of the opening round. Cardona bringing the mustard with every shot he throws to open round one. A vicious left hook to body drops Kelley midway through the round. Kelley is unable to continue.
Cardona improves to 10-2, 10KOs while Kelley drops his second in a row falling to 3-7, 3KOs.
'Slick D' Tramples Knight.
Rising super featherweight sensation Donovan Estrella humiliates and stops Antoine Knight in two rounds. Estrella scoring 3 knockdowns.
Estrella rips a combination on the inside as he encourages Knight to bring the action. Estrella counters Knight with a four punch combination. Estrella digging body shots as Knight falls for the feints. Estrella is too fast and accurate for Knight in round one.
Estrella in the southpaw stance as he catches Knight walking in and drops him with a right hook. Knight rises from the knockdown but is belted with a six punch combination. Estrella drops Knight again with the barrage of punches. Knight again beats the count but is stopped moments later as Estrella jumps all over him. The referee stops the bout at 1:58 of round number two.
Estrella improves to 7-0, 3KOs. Knight drops his seventh straight landing at 3-14, 1KO.
Galvadon Terrorizes Chambers.
Rising prospect Chris Galvadon demolishes Vic Chambers in the first round.
Galvadon is unleashing power shots onto an over matched Chambers. Galvadon flattens Chambers with a left hook in the corner. Chambers beats the count but is dropped moments later from another left hook. Chambers, again, rises but moments later, referee Stephan Blea calls a halt to the action. Galvadon is your winner by TKO at 1:51 of round one.
Galvadon improves to 5-0, 2KOs. Chambers remains unwon at 0-3.
Diaz Wages War Against Solarzano
Antonio Diaz smothers and goes bombs away at a game Antonio Solarzano over four rounds in jr. welterweight action.
Diaz is patient, looking for an opening and he catches Solarzano with a hook to the body. Diaz is ripping the body as the fighters tie up. Solarzano's face is flushed as Diaz continues to pound away. Diaz ends the round with a big left hook. Diaz continues to make Solarzano miss and attack the body. Solarzano is tough but just too small for Diaz. Heavy action as both fighters trade leather along the ropes. A cut opens up on the back of the head of Diaz. An actioned packed round two.
Diaz continues to apply the pressure as Solarzano hangs tough. Diaz putting together combinations in the center of the ring. Diaz traps Solarzano in the corner and bullies him with body shots. Solarzano has a lot of heart. Diaz is trying to finish the show as he pushes off and unleashes combinations. Solarzano catches Diaz with a hook as Diaz walks in with his hands down. Diaz is relentless on the ropes as he chases Solarzano around the ring. Four rounds of non-stop action between Diaz and Solarzano. We go the scorecards.
All three judges score it the same, 40-36, for Antonio Diaz. Diaz improves to 5-1, 2KOs while Solarzano drops to 1-3.
Cobb Lands 'Money Punch', Puts Smith To Sleep
Donald Cobb touches the chin of Jordan Smith and Smith is off to dream land in a light heavyweight bout. Smith was out before he hit the canvas.
Both fighters are looking to establish their respective jabs early. Smith with a 2-3 combination in the center of the ring. Smith is active as Cobb tries to fight off his back foot. Cobb with a stiff jab, followed by a straight left, Cobb is a southpaw. Smith counters a straight left from Cobb to end round one. Smith is looking to press the action as Cobb looks to counter. Smith with a straight left over the top. Smith supplying the action but Cobb is finding ways to counter his opponent. Cobb with a nice 1-2 over the top. The fighters trade combinations towards the end of the round.
Cobb heating up as his corner instructs him that it is a close fight. Blood streams from the nose of Smith. Cobb is now sitting down on his punches. A devastating right hook from Cobb puts Smith to sleep, he is out before he hits the canvass. The fight is over at 1:49 of the third round.
Cobb improves to 4-0, 3KOs and Smith loses his first fight as a pro, moving to 2-1, 2KOs.
Montoya Decisions Morris In Sloppy Bout
Cruiserweight Joey Montoya wins a lack lackluster decision over wild punching Dennis Morris.
Montoya opens the action with an overhand right as Morris is caught slipping between punches. Montoya putting together combinations in the center of the ring. Morris is winging punches as Montoya catches him with a counter left hook. Montoya blast Morris with the first punch of the second round. Montoya’s corner is instructing Joey to go to the body. Morris is tired as Montoya digs to the mid-section. Morris just winging power shots as Montoya catches him between every punch.
Morris ripping away at Montoya along the ropes to start the third. Montoya catches Morris with a left hook as Morris steps out. Morris catches Montoya with a straight right hand. Montoya seems to be tiring in round three. Montoya ends the round with a straight right hand. Morris hurts Montoya with a wild right hook as Montoya holds on. Sloppy round four as both fighter are a bit winded. Montoya bleeding heavily from his nose.
Morris clobbering Montoya to open round five, Montoya is in trouble. Montoya starts pumping the jab. Montoya unloading on the ropes. Morris absorbing punishment as Montoya has found his second wind. Montoya is fighting from the outside, finally using his length. Both fighters are throwing a lot of arm punches from fatigue. Montoya trying to close the round strong.
Your winner by unanimous decision, Joey 'The Beast' Montoya. Montoya improves to 8-2-3, 3KOs while Morris drops to 6-2, 5KOs.
Santiago Gets An Early Christmas Gift, Draws With Salinas
Jose Salinas is hometown(ed) by the judges in Colorado. Juan Santiago and Jose Salinas battle to a draw in a Jr. welterweight bout.
Salinas using the ring as Santiago follows. Salinas with a 1-2 in the center of the ring. Santiago going to the body. Its an evenly matched bout after one. The action is picking up in round two as Santiago continues to press forward. Salinas winning the exchanges on the inside. He catches Santiago flush with a right hand. Santiago is retreating as Salinas is tagging him with power shots.
Salinas is boxing beautifully from the outside. Santiago responds with a right hand in the center of the ring. Salinas is picking and choosing his shots as Santiago lays on the ropes. Salinas catching Santiago with cleans shots as round three ends. Salinas sends sweat splattering across ringside with a right hand to the head of Santiago. Santiago’s face is starting to show the wear and tear of the beating he is taking. Salinas has come to fight tonight. Santiago showing his tremendous heart as he plods forward. Salinas catches Santiago with a right hand in the corner, finishing the round strong.
Both fighters standing and trading here in round five. Santiago may have found a second wind as Salinas' punch output slows down considerably. Santiago making a last ditch effort to win this action packed fight. Salinas has lost the luster on his punches, the thin Denver air may be catching up to him. Salinas catches Santiago with a big counter right hand. Both fighter’s faces are showing damage as Santiago walks into another right hand from Salinas. What a great fight as both fighters continue to trade down the stretch.
Judges ringside see the bout even, a draw. Both fighters records move sideways with Santiago going to 14-12-2, 8KOs and Salinas to 6-1-1, 3KOs. This fight could easily call for a rematch.
Riordan Stalks Garcia In a 'Bombs Away' Victory
Maureen Riordan bests Alma Garcia in a female featherweight bout. It was an exciting bout from bell to bell.
Both fighters meet in the center of the ring and exchange blows. Garcia with a big right hook but Riordan continues to walk forward. Garcia continues to catch Riordan with the right hand but Riordan just takes them and keeps coming forward with combinations of her own. Garica seems tired from the constant pressure of Riordan. Riordan is all business in round two as she walks Garcia down with a heavy dose of punches. Garcia is throwing bombs in response but the constant pressure of Riordan is carrying her to a victory.
Garcia comes out strong to start round three but is quickly gassed out as Riordan continues to apply pressure. What an exciting bout as both fighters throw caution to the wind and let their hands go. Riordan is on a mission heading into round four. Garcia with a big overhand right to begin round four. Both fighters are fighting on empty tanks from the previous action but Riordan continues to supply the pressure. Garcia is looking for one big shot but Riordan continues to eat them and walk forward.
Your winner by majority decision, Maureen Riordan. Riordan improves to 1-1 while Garcia drops to 0-4.
Scripture Muscles His Way To A Victory
Andrew Scripture bullies Adam Botterill over three rounds in a cruiserweight 'eliminator' bout.
Scripture is bullying Botterill on the inside, cracking with a right hook. Scripture banging away to the body when both fighters tie up. Botterill slips in a few straight lefts throughout the round. Scripture with a four punch combination as Botterill is caught with his hands down. Scripture rips an uppercut to the body as his corner man Jake Ramos instructs him to do so. Boterill is hanging tough but he is simply overmatched tonight.
Scripture is banging away to the body of Botterill. Botterill walks into a straight right hand from Scripture. Scripture has been a buzzing menace throughout the fight, stalking Botterill for the full three rounds.
Scripture gets the nod on the scorecards winning the three round eliminator.
Overall, it was a great night of action as New Generation Promotions ends the year on a high note. Look for the Lopez’s to return early in 2015 as they have built a large following in 2014, “We’re taking it to another level” stated Devon Lopez.
