Dominican junior welterweight contender Joan Guzman (33-0, 20KOs), the current mandatory challenger to the "regular" World Boxing Association (WBA) title, has no idea who he'll face for the title recently vacated by Marcos Maidana.

Last week the WBA ordered Guzman to face Pablo Cesar Cano of Mexico for the vacant belt, but the boxer has rejected the opportunity. As previously reported on BoxingScene.com a few weeks ago, Cano will face WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi on October 20th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

According to Guzman's promoter, Henry Rivalta of Acquinity Sports, Golden Boy Promotions were willing to match Cano against his fighter - but Cano's management had little to no interest in the fight.

One of the possible opponents that Rivalta plans to approach is IBO champion Khabib Allakhverdiev (17-0, 8KOs) of Russia.

"We will begin negotiations with the people of Allakhverdiev very soon and we hope to reach an agreement quickly," he said to BoxingScene.com.
