Ricardo "Dinamita" Alvarez (23-2-3, 14KOs) is waiting for the green light to begin training camp for his next ring outing. Alvarez is discussing a potential fight against WBC interim-lightweight champion Omar Figueroa (22-0-1, 17KOs). The fight is being targeted for March 8th, as part of the undercard to (younger brother) Saul Alvarez's return at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"Everything is going very well. We have already worked a little and we are waiting to go (to San Diego) to start the preparation. We are very happy that we are at the door of a title fight against Figueroa," said Alvarez.

Ricardo watched last July's all-out war between Figueroa and Japan's Nihito Arakawa, and saw several flaws that he plans to exploit.

"I saw that fight with Arakawa while we were in Big Bear for the preparation of Saul, not knowing that this fight (with Figueroa) could happen. He has a style similar to mine. He likes to trade punches. I liked that fight because he gives punches, but he also takes punches. He's very strong, but also neglects his defense, so we are going to see what happens," Alvarez said.
