WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs) is a big fan of the UFC [Ultimate Fighting Championship].
The Mexican superstar enjoys watching their events, but says it's not better than the art of boxing.
"I watch it, it is a contact sport, but there is no more beautiful than the sport of boxing," said Canelo. "Boxing is the most beautiful thing after the women. There are boxing fans and fans of the UFC. The people want to see blood, but there is his fondness for both."
The Mexican superstar did not hesitate to providing his opinion on last month's shocking upset where UFC superstar Conor McGregor was submitted in two rounds by huge underdog Nick Díaz, who is an expert in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and boxing.
Canelo is not surprised by the outcome. He felt McGregor made a huge mistake in allowing himself to move up by so many weight classes to fight a dangerous late replacement like Diaz.
"I really envisioned that happening. The worst mistake that Conor made was taking [the fight] lightly and going up so much in weight. Because of his pride he did not beat Nate Díaz," Canelo said.
McGregor and Diaz will have a rematch on July 9th at UFC 200 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Canelo will also have a fight at the T-Mobile Arena, on May 7th, when he defends his title against Amir Khan at catch-weight of 155-pounds.
