MGM Grand, LAS VEGAS, NV - Saturday night's super fight between Canelo Alvarez and WBC/WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight is close to a 50-50 fight among experts and odds makers alike.
The pay-per-view showdown takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be distributed by HBO.
Many people feel that Alvarez has the better chance of the two fighters to win a decision and that Golovkin is more likely to win by knockout. Golovkin is more known for his power and went the full 12 round distance for the first time in his career in March when he edged out Danny Jacobs in New York.
Canelo wouldn't go as far as to say that he expects to knockout out Golovkin but when asked about the possibility, he said that the knockout runs through his mind every night before he goes to bed.
"Every night I visualized the knockout. Every night before I go to sleep I visualize it. It is something that I prepare and train for. It's not something that I can predict will happen, it may or may may not happen but I get ready for it," said Canelo.
Alvarez is 49-1-1 with 34 victories by way of knockout while Golovkin is 37-0 with 33 wins via knockout.
In the co-main event of the Canelo vs. Golovkin undercard, Joseph "JoJo" Diaz, Jr. (24-0, 13 KOs) and Rafael "Big Bang" Rivera (25-0-2, 16 KOs) will face off in a 12-round WBC Featherweight title eliminator. Randy "El Matador" Caballero (24-0, 14 KOs) and Diego De La Hoya (19-0, 9 KOs) will face off in a 10-round super bantamweight battle for the Caballero's NABF Super Bantamweight title and the vacant NABO Super Bantamweight title. Ryan "Blue Chip" Martin (19-0, 11 KOs) and Francisco Rojo (20-2, 13 KOs) will battle it out for Ryan's WBC Continental Americas and the vacant WBA Intercontinental lightweight titles in the opening bout of the HBO Pay-Per-View®telecast.
