Lightweight contender Luke Campbell has no issue with Anthony Joshua's decision to exercise his right to an immediate rematch with Andy Ruiz.

The second fight was officially announced on Friday, with both boxers colliding on December 7th in Saudi Arabia.

There are many critics, and fighters, who believe Joshua should have taken an interim fighter or two - and then rematch Ruiz.

But Campbell believes Ruiz is vulnerable, and beatable, and there was too much risk that another heavyweight could have knocked him off before Joshua got his chance at revenge.

He believes it was necessary for Joshua to face Ruiz as soon as possible.

"He’ll want to come back with a bang and a big performance," Campbell explained to Talk Sport.

"Because of who it is. I think that Ruiz guy is certainly capable of getting beat – certainly. And I believe if he boxed somebody else, there’s a big chance somebody else beats him and then the opportunity is further away from you.

“People say ‘oh yeah, step back, rebuild, have a fight to feel your way back in’ – f*** me, man. These people are soft. We’re not soft. We’re in the boxing game for a reason, because we want to be the best and we’re training every day of our lives to be the best. So why do I… rebuild what? You’re not working out a f***ing math equation, you’re not working something out in the classroom – this is boxing. I got hit on top of the head because I got caught up in a swinger. It’s boxing, it’s what happens. It’s only one shot, that’s it. So I believe he’ll go back in there and win his titles back.”
