Luke Campbell is getting more and more confident that everyone will see a major upset when he faces fellow Olympic gold medal winner Vasiliy Lomachenko.
Their contest takes place on August 31 at the O2 Arena in London, with the WBC, WBA, WBO lightweight world titles at stake.
Campbell goes for a world title for the second time, as he lost a close points decision to Jorge Linares in 2017 in Los Angeles.
Linares, known as the UK destroyer for his wins on UK soil over Kevin Mitchell and Anthony Crolla, twice. But against Campbell that contest was razor close, and took place in the champion's backyard.
"I'd seen Linares fight in the UK then, all of a sudden, I have to fight the champion in his backyard, in LA, at a time when he's in his prime," Campbell stated during an on-demand special on Sky Sports.
"At a time when he's in the top 10 pound-for-pound list, but I had to go and fight on his show in his back garden. He had fought three times in the UK but I had to go to him."
Lomachenko is a huge favorite to win the fight. The WBC ordered the contest after Mikey Garcia vacated the belt to concentrate on fighting at junior welterweight and welterweight.
Campbell believes that he's facing Lomachenko at the right moment. In his last fight, Lomachenko demolished Crolla in what became a one-sided mismatch.
"I'm fighting the elite of the elite. They all get beat in the end, don't they? Sooner or later. I believe I will beat him," Campbell said.
"I'm confident in the 19 years that I've put into this sport, always being disciplined. Timing is everything."
