BoxingScene.com has learned that Yory Boy Campas (92-12, 74KOs) has dropped out from next Saturday's bout against Julio "Baby Face" Garcia (41-3, 35KOs), scheduled for the undercard to Juan Manuel Marquez-Joel Casamayor at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The late replacement is said to be Danny Perez (32-5, 17KOs).
Perez's claim to fame are two hard-fought bouts with current WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito. Perez first met Margarito in 1999, knocking the tough Mexican down in the first-round, but losing an eight-round split-decision on the cards. When they met again in 2002, Margarito won a dominating twelve-round decision. Perez has never been stopped and has some key wins over Jose Luis Zertuche and Grady Brewer.
