The proposed February battle between WBO/IBF/IBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe and IBF light heavyweight champion Clinton Woods has hit a snag in negotiations.
According to South Wales Echo, promoters Frank Warren and Dennis Hobson could not come to an agreement for their fighters to meet at the Millennium Stadium next year. Hobson requested that Woods earn $1.5 million for the encounter, a figure Frank Warren has rejected.
Due to Warren's rejecting his monetary demand for Woods, he is going ahead with his plans to sit down with representatives for light heavyweights Roy Jones, Jr. and Antonio Tarver, hoping to make a deal with either marquee name.
Calzaghe still has to contend with Sakio Bika on October 14 in Manchester. HBO has told Warren that Calzaghe must face a major name if he wants them to pay big dollars for a February Calzaghe bout.
