There are rumblings that WBO/IBO/IBF Super Middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe (41-0, 31 KOs) is close to landing on HBO, which would mark the second fighter that HBO has snatched from rival network Showtime in the last few months.

The pact is not a done deal, as Showtime has until Friday to match HBO's offer to Calzaghe's promoter Frank Warren, but most insiders do not expect Showtime to match the much higher offer of $1.5 million for Calzaghe's next bout. Calzaghe should debut on HBO on July 8, against an opponent to be announced.

Warren's office did confirm to BoxingScene.com that there is also talk of showcasing Amir Khan as part of the deal.

Earlier this year, HBO was able to snatch away welterweight Ricky Hatton from Showtime by making a significantly higher bid on his fights. Hatton makes his debut with HBO on May 13 in his welterweight debut against WBA belt holder Luis Collazo.
