Apparently, Frank Warren, promoter of IBF/WBO super middleweight king Joe Calzaghe, told the the South Wales Echo, that an agreement is already in place with light heavyweight Glen Johnson, for a proposed bout with Calzaghe in February.
A lot has to happen before the Johnson bout can become a reality. Calzaghe has to beat tough Sakio Bika, when the two meet on October 14 at Manchester's MEN Arena. Even more important, Johnson has to get by IBF light heavyweight champion Clinton Woods, when the two meet for the third time on September 2.
Although Woods may be a possibility if he beats Johnson, Warren predicts that it would take come hard bargaining to make that fight happen. He noted that other possibilities for Calzaghe include Ronald 'Winky' Wright, Jermain Taylor and the winner of the upcoming Kessler-Beyer battle.
