The injury curse has struck him once again, Joe Calzaghe damaged his left hand while training for his return to the Millennium Stadium on July 8. The damaged hand is the same hand Calzaghe injured against Evans Ashira last September. The July bout was set to be televised on HBO, which would have been his debut on the powerhouse network.
Promoter Frank Warren speculates that Calzaghe will return in the Fall.
The Millennium Stadium will still go move forward, moving to the top spot on the card will likely the heavyweight rematch between Danny Williams and Matt Skelton.
"Like everyone else involved in the promotion, I am really disappointed that Joe has had to withdraw because of this latest injury," Warren said.
