Black Bear Casino in Carlton, Minnesota - In his first fight since getting stopped in twelve round by WBA 'regular' middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs last April, "Golden" Caleb Truax (26-2-2, 16 KOs) picked up a TKO win over Melvin Betancourt (29-4, 23 KOs) in four rounds.
Betancourt made an effort, but he was slowly getting broken down round by round. After Truax decked him in the fourth, Betancourt indicated to the referee that he was unable to continue any further.
Prior to the loss to Jacobs, Truax went unbeaten in eight fights that dated back to his twelve round decision loss to former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor, who went down in the ninth round of the bout.
Truax is still ranked in the ninth position by the World Boxing Association. The boxer is advised by powerful manager Al Haymon and hopes to get another big fight in the near future.
