The world featherweight champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mexico's Jhonny Gonzalez, would make the first defense of his crown against the Panamanian Roinet "Mus" Caballero, on July 9th in Mexico. The venue has not beeen determined. And Caballero's agent, Eliecer Galvez from Panama, stated - "no fight is official until we sign the contracts."

Caballero (30-10-1, 22 KOs) wants to avenge a previous loss in a title elminator with Daniel Ponce De Leon of Mexico, by defeating González (48-7, 42 KOs ) and taking the WBC title back to Panama. Caballero has only been beaten three since 2005, and only one of them by TKO to featherweight champion Chris John. Caballero won 21 outings in that time period, including a recent fight on May 27 where he knocked out  Santos Marimon in two rounds.

Gonzalez makes the first defense of the title that he won by fourth-round technical knockout against then-Japanese ruler Hozumi Hasegawa, which happened on April 8 in Kobe, Japan.
