BoxingScene.com was advised that Matt Remillard (22-0, 13KOs) is under serious consideration to face Celestino Caballero (34-2, 23KOs) in the fall. Discussions are ongoing to finalize a deal where Caballero will be part of a possible HBO televised tripleheader on November 27. Caballero's participation on the card is said to be "very likely."
The main event will have Juan Manuel Marquez defending his WBA/WBO lightweight titles against Michael Katsidis. Another possibility for the show is Andre Berto making a defense of his WBC welterweight title against mandatory challenger Selcuk Aydin. Berto's participation on the card is dependent on his financial demands being satisfied.
Caballero's handlers were in hot pursuit of securing Ricardo Cordoba as the opponent. Cordoba, then 21-0, decisioned a young 19-1 Caballero back in 2004. Based on every indication that I've received, including the word from Caballero's team, is Cordoba reached an agreement to face two-time Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux on the Pacquiao vs. Margarito undercard on November 13.
