BoxingScene.com has been advised by numerous sources that undefeated IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute is likely going to defend his title against dangerous puncher Edison Miranda on April 17 on HBO. Both Miranda and Jesse Brinkley were in the running for the fight. HBO, for their own reasons, were not very receptive to Brinkley fighting Bute. They have far more interest in Bute-Miranda.
The fight will take place in Canada. HBO plans to package the fight in a split-feed format with Kelly Pavlik's defense of the WBO/WBO middleweight titles at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Top Rank and Lou DiBella are still trying to reach a deal on Pavlik vs. Sergio Martinez for the main event.
