Scott Cardle (21-0-1, 7KOs) retained his British title in explosive style by stopping Grimsby's Kevin Hooper (19-4, 4KOs) in Round 6
The contest began with a positive fast paced start by both boxers in the British Lightweight title contest. Cardle and Hooper both looked to establish themselves in the contest early however the more effective work came from Cardle in the opening three rounds.
Cardle has set out as if he is really looking to prove a point after his last two controversial fights with Birkenhead's Sean Dodd.
Grimsby's Hooper looked to press the slick Cardle on to the back foot as he looked to land the right hand however the champion seemed to remain in control of the contest.
Hooper looked to mix it with the champion and Cardle responded in kind as he unleashed barrages of heavy shots on the tough challenger who had been cut around the left eye.
The Lytham via Barrhead Champion appeared to have abandoned his slick back footed style as he landed a massive right hook visibly shaking Hooper in round 5. After a heavy flurry the referee in charge Marcus McDonnell jumped in to stop the contest at 1.53 of round number 5.
Glasgow's Ross Murray (3-0, 1KO) picked up the first stoppage of his career as he broke Hungarian Tibor Nadori (9-5-1, 4KOs) down with a third round sustained attack to the body.
Scott McCormack (5-2) out pointed Luke Flash (2-10-1) 39-37 in a contest that was fact paced throughout. Both fighters looked to land heavy shots in what was an enjoyable contest for the Scottish onlookers.
Edinburgh Super Featherweight Lewis Paulin moved to 7-0 as he displayed a textbook display of calculated offence on Sheffield's Adrian Fuzesy (6-11). The Meadowbank man Paulin was maybe unlucky to not get a stoppage as he was awarded a 60-54 points victory.
Stewart Burt (6-0-1) remained undefeated as he comfortably out pointed Bognor Regis' Arturs Geikhins over four rounds. Burt controlled the ring throughout and wasn't troubled by his English based Welterweight opponent.
