GLASGOW, Scotland - WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns has had surgery after breaking his jaw in Saturday's draw with challenger Raymundo Beltran. Burns confirmed his injury on Twitter, with promoter Eddie Hearn adding Sunday on the social networking site that "Ricky is now in surgery to have a titanium plate in his jaw." He fought with the injury for ten rounds and was floored in the eighth round on Saturday. However, Burns managed to secure a draw - to his surprise and that of his hometown fans in Glasgow - and retain his title after the third judge scored the fight 114-114.

i think whoever decides to fight beltran next SHOULD demand extra testing..can't trust heredia to do anything clean with his athletes
and beltran showed a suspect increase in power and stamina
