Earlier this week, promoter Frank Warren had a meeting in London with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer. The Golden Boy exec is interested in matching his unbeaten super featherweight, Adrien Broner (21-0, 17KOs), against Warren's WBO's champion, Ricky Burns (32-2, 9KOs), on the tentative HBO televised date of November 5th.

Warren would have liked to have Burns return on October 8th at Kelvin Hall in Scotland, but that scenario is looking more and more less likely. However, Burns is still pushing to get a fight with Mzonke Fana.

“We opened talks with Golden Boy and Richard Schaefer in London this week and these talks were productive, positive and will be ongoing. Obviously we want to make the best fight out there for Ricky and we know he has his heart set on a fight with Fana," Warren said to the Herald Times.

"But Golden Boy have Broner to look after and we respect that, and hopefully we will come to an arrangement that will keep both parties happy in the not-too-distant future. Broner is a bit of a knockout specialist, so you can’t underestimate him. But Ricky has proven against the best at 130-pounds that he is champion on merit.”
