The Frank Buglioni-Callum Johnson British Light Heavyweight title fight may be rescheduled for February 3 next year.

The two fighters had been originally scheduled to meet last Saturday night on the Anthony Joshua-Carlos Takam undercard at Cardiff's Principality Stadium. Instead, Buglioni (21-2-1, 15 KOs) faced off against Craig Richards (10-1, 4 KOs) with the 'Wise Guy' retaining his title over 12 rounds (117-111 twice, 116-113) against a determined Richards, who fought for the Southern Area Super Middleweight title earlier this year.

Johnson withdrew from the Buglioni bout due to personal reasons, but now hopes Buglioni's third defence of his Lord Lonsdale belt will be against him.

"Devastated would be an understatement about tonight. Best of luck to both fighters. Hopefully I can still get my chance against the winner," said Johnson in response to his withdrawal.

Johnson congratulated Buglioni on Twitter and added: "Let's hope we can reschedule."

The tweet prompted their promoter Eddie Hearn to chip in, saying: "Feb 3 O2 Arena please boys".

The February 3 card, far from being finalised, may also feature the WBC number 3 heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte.

'The Bodysnatcher' defeated Robert Helenius on the recent Joshua undercard to win the vacant WBC Silver Heavyweight title pushing him one step nearer to a fight against the organisation's champion Deontay Wilder.

""If Deontay Wilder will travel, there's a fight to be made on February 3 in London," said Whyte's promoter Eddie Hearn on Saturday night.

Should Wilder get past old foe Bermane Stiverne, for a second time, this weekend in a rematch of their January 2015 fight and not travel to the U.K for the seventh defence of the title he took from Stiverne, then the scene could be finally set for Whyte to go up against Dereck Chisora after the two Brits engaged in a 2016 fight of the year contender in December.

Chisora returns to action this weekend in Monte Carlo hoping to win the European title, for the second time in his career, against German Agit Kabayel.
