Saturday evening's Big Knockout Boxing main event had a total of three knockdowns between Gabe Rosado and Bryan Vera. Rosado emerged victorious when he dropped Vera a second time just before the end of the sixth round. Vera rose to his feet but on shaky legs. While Vera felt he could have continued, he didn't complain about the referee's decision to stop the fight.
"I'm a fighter. I always feel I can continue. If I'm on my feet I feel I can fight and I got up but Kenny Bayless felt differently and I'm not going to complain about it. I thought I could continue but he didn't and he has his job to do," Vera stated.
Vera's previous two fights took place at 173 and 168 pounds against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Vera didn't want to use the 160 pound weight limit as an excuse but admitted that it was tougher this time around to make the weight and is unsure of what weight he will fight at next.
"It may have (been a factor) a little bit. It took a little while to get down. I felt like I did it okay. I can't make an excuse for what happened. I got kind of careless, running into shots," Vera would tell BoxingScene.com and Ignacio Zuniga.
