At least one person was left unimpressed by Amir Khan’s newfound ability to take flush punches to the chin, British rival Kell Brook insists that Amir is still vulnerable and has dismissed Khan’s claims that he “handled” Brook during their amateur sparring sessions.

“When we got in the ring I pasted him,” insisted Brook when speaking to The Sheffield Star.  “That's what happened, not the other way round like he's saying.  The fact is he is dodging me.  I read that Frank offered Amir £1.5m to fight me but it was bigger than that.  He doesn't want it – but I'd love the opportunity.  He is a nice lad but perhaps over-rated, he is fast but has a rubbish chin.”

Brook moved to 23-0 (16) with a second stanza icing of Philip Kotey in December.  ‘Special K’ also settled domestic welterweight business by stopping Chorley’s Michael Jennings on a fifth round cut eye stoppage back in September.

Kell first called for Khan when speaking to Boxingscene in the aftermath of both fights.  The 24-year-old WBO Inter-Continental title-holder feels that Amir needs to accommodate him should Bolton’s world titlist decide to move up to welterweight.

Amir, though, believes that Brook needs to pick up a world title in order to make this contest a reality, the WBA light-welterweight titlist recently ignored Frank Warren’s £1.5 million attempt to secure a showdown with Brook as he is seeking fights with fellow world title winners ahead of a potential unification showdown against the winner of Tim Bradley versus Devon Alexander.
